2009 Boating Classes

Flotilla 63 holds classes in several locations at varying times.  Most classes require a nominal fee to cover course material.  For additional information on any of our courses, please contact Greg Reese.

Class Descriptions

Boating Skills and Seamanship (BS&S) - All at Warwick High School (WHS) in Newport News, Mondays and Wednesdays unless otherwise noted, 6:45 (promptly) to 8:45 for 4 weeks (7 sessions).  BS&S is a NASBLA-certified curriculum that satisfies the Virginia boater education requirement.   Missed classes can be made up if arranged with the instructor.  Cost of the text is $35 ($42 for couples). 

Sep: 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30 (Labor Day 8th, 6 sessions).

F63 reserves the right to change course time/date/content to suit WHS and Instructor availability.

Virginia Safe Boating Course - Flotilla 63 offers this course in cooperation with the Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries.  If successfully completed, the course satisfies the requirements for ages 14-16 to legally operate a personal watercraft (PWC).

Coastal Navigation  - this course is offered in two segments - Basic and Advanced - to suit Auxiliarist and/or public demand.  Check this web site for updates!
